Cacao beans contains hundreds of different phytochemicals including antioxidants. They are very high in magnesium and iron.
This tonic is hard core and not like sweetened cocoa drinks or hot chocolate. This is a very intuitive concoction and you might have to adjust the quantity of spices to suit your taste. Warm your soul by drinking in the morning.

Method:

Place spices with cacao beans in a mortar and crush with a pestle until powder is formed. Add cacao powder. Heat milk in a saucepan and add spice mixture and sugar to taste. Let simmer for 10 minutes. Strain through a sieve. (I don’t strain and am happy with the bits of spices at the bottom of my cup).
